A note about summer reading lists

 

The books you will see listed here are recommended for summer reading. I hope the titles I've chosen will be eagerly devoured by children and encourage them to read more. I have arranged the books by genre, and appropriateness of content rather than by exact reading level. Within a given grade, the difficulty level varies, which reflects students varying moods and needs more than simply ability level.

I've tried to include both serious, challanging works, and light, simple ones in these lists, there are works of poetry, and nonfiction material as well. Also, I've put in a section of 'Classics to read together', books that can be too difficult for a child to decode and follow on their own, but can be immensely enjoyable for them to hear.
